Japanese sencha that has been partially shaded during the growing process in order for the plant to produce more chlorophyll. The leaves are intensely green and very thin needle-shaped. The flavor is classic umami with a thick mouthfeel, sweet and vegetal. Gyokuro typically has the highest amounts of antioxidants next to Japanese Matcha. May be brewed multiple times. Our gyokuro is sourced directly from small scale farms in Uji, Kyoto, Japan.
