Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, The Makaibari Estate was one of the first organic tea gardens and has been a pioneer is biodynamic agriculture for nearly 40 years. Darjeeling is only partially oxidized, which makes it more of an oolong than a black or green tea, although it typically is considered a black tea in the West; this is clearly seen in the dry and wet leaves – a range of colors, black, brown, green and silver. Our Makaibari Darjeeling has intense aromas of spices, dried fruits, and wine; in the brewed tea, notes of lemon, apricot, and black pepper; great body yet light in taste, with signature muscatel flavor.
